Constant change built resilience
In the 1985 John III purchased the company and in 1999 began to phase out the residential piece of the business in order to focus on commercial clients. The transition took about 18 months allowing JLS to spend more time on larger sites without being distracted In the early 2000s, the third generation, John IV & Jeremy, joined the business full time, having started off in high school as part time employees. John III’s wife, Linda, also came on board, after leaving her corporate position to manage human resources and finances.
As Stewards of our environments
JLS team members strive to nurture landscapes while being respectful to the environment. We will use “Best Management Practices” in an effort to promote sustainability in our landscape and snow and ice removal operations.
LEED – Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (USGBC)
By having a LEED AP on staff JLS can offer direction as well as documentation for maintaining and recertifying LEED properties. JLS maintains several LEED Certified buildings within our portfolio and continues to grow and learn how to be better stewards of our environment.
JLS wants to ensure team members can stay busy and work year-round in both landscape maintenance and snow removal. All employees do both and JLS strives to maintain the right balance of business between divisions to keep all team members year round.
